The year 2024 marks the 60th anniversary of the Dr H.P. Heineken Prize for Biochemistry and Biophysics. Alfred Heineken established the prize in 1964 as a tribute to his father, the chemist Henry Pierre Heineken.
To celebrate this festive occasion, the Alfred Heineken Fondsen Foundation is delighted to announce an increase in the prize money for the Heineken Prizes for Sciences. The foundation has decided to add 50,000 USD to the prize fund, increasing the cash award for each laureate to 250,000 USD.
The Alfred Heineken Fondsen Foundation has also raised the prize money of the Heineken Young Scientists Awards by 5,000 USD. Each recipient of this award will now receive 15,000 USD.
The increase in prize money reflects our deep appreciation for the essential work being carried out by scientists worldwide. Their dedication, innovation, and unwavering commitment to pushing the boundaries of knowledge deserve to be celebrated and rewarded.
